A tradition that honours of the greatest heroes in Canadian history will continue this weekend in Humboldt.
The Terry Fox Run is set for Sunday, beginning at 10:00 at Midland Glass.
Organizer Brittany Petit welcomes everyone to the event.
“We love to see a lot of people come out, whether they're walking or running.”
She added, “We're hoping that our runners who register will help gather donations for the cause.”
Petit points out that while the story of Fox is inspirational, the goal of the event is to raise funds for cancer research.
“One thing that we do try to let our students know when we do our Terry Fox run at the school as well is that a lot of us these days still know family members or friends of the family who are suffering through their cancer. And we just to reiterate that it's not just about Terry Fox, but it's about the movement that he started.”
Participants will have three routes to choose from on Sunday, with 2.5 km, 5 km and 10 km options available.
Petit says it will be a familiar route for anyone taking part, beginning at Midland Glass (520 10th Street).
“We're going around the collegiate and on to the walking path that is the trail behind the school and then there will be signs up stating where you're going for each path.”
Everyone in Humboldt and the surrounding area is welcome to participate in the Terry Fox Run.
