Cohenn Rotar has signed on the dotted line.

The Swift Current Broncos have taken the all-important step of signing their first round 2025 WHL Prospect Draft pick to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.

"We've felt pretty strong about Cohenn," said Broncos General Manager Chad Leslie. "We're excited. We see him being an offensive producer for us down the road. Just to get it done and have that peace of mind. Take our time with him and do things the right way to make sure we're having things the way we need them for him at 18 and 19-year-old. To do things the right way right off the hop is very important."

Swift Current picked Rotar 22nd overall in the 2025 draft.

"Right from the get-go they had no qualms about being a Swift Current Bronco," Leslie said. "Cohenn has been super excited to be a Bronco, and as are we to have him."

That was the sentiment Rotar had expressed in May.

"I was hoping that maybe Swift Current takes me," Rotar told Swift Current Online shortly after he was drafted. "It's an awesome program, and I'd love to go there. When I heard my name it's a surreal moment. Everyone dreams of hearing their name in the WHL draft. It's one of the best moments I'll ever have."

The Grande Prairie, Alberta, native put up 34 goals and 33 assists in 34 Alberta U15 AAA games.

He attended Broncos training camp and suited up in the rookie game against Regina.

Rotar had an assist in the win over the Pats.

"Players are very welcoming," Rotar said of his camp experience. "The vets welcome you like you're a part of the team already. The staff are amazing and everything here is just awesome."

He will play for Calgary IHA Prep of the Canadian Sport Schools Hockey League this season.

"I honestly am not putting anything on his season," Leslie said. "I just want him to get strong, to be in a situation where he is developing every day, playing on the other side of the puck, doing things at pace... he's going to have to do everything with his feet moving. Just getting better every day. In regards to points that he produces this year, I have no expectation. I just want to make sure that he's developing the right way and he's going to be ready for us down the road."

The Broncos wrap up their pre-season with games against the Wheat Kings in Brandon on Friday and in Virden on Saturday.
