The Town of Eastend is grateful for some recent support for its pool refurbishment project.

The Richardson Foundation recently accepted the Eastend application for funding, providing the aquatic initiative with $15,000.

This money will enable the project to move into resurfacing work on the pools, slide platforms, and the steps in the kids' pool. Also, they will be updating some of the landscaping with new green spaces and shaded seating areas.

The project is actually nearly completely funded, with only a few dollars more needed to achieve the total funding goal of $43,000.

Rosa Vazquez, tourism and economic development officer for the Town of Eastend, explains that it's just paperwork holding things up currently.

"We're getting quotes for the fence," said Vazquez. "We already have the quote for the resurfacing of the pool. It's just about getting the funds together to continue the project now."

Anyone who would like to donate can find more information on the Town of Eastend website. Any donation over $20 can be sent to eastend@sasktel.net for e-transfer, so long as it is specified as a donation for the pool in the message. Alternatively, they can also send money to eastend.pool@gmail.com.

"We are very grateful to all our volunteers because they are the ones who keep all our recreational facilities in good condition," said Vazquez. "They are always looking for ways to improve them. We are very grateful to them."
