Unity RCMP charged a 42-year-old man with firearm offences after responding to a report of an unwanted individual in a public area last week.

The man, who has no fixed address, faces counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm and unsafe storage of a firearm.

Between Sept. 2 and 8, officers also investigated several Mental Health Act complaints, conducted a wellbeing check, and mediated a custody dispute. Police received reports of uttering threats, harassing communications, and disturbing the peace, though several of those complaints were deemed unfounded or resolved without charges.

RCMP are also investigating a reported theft in the community.

Police responded to a two-vehicle collision in Unity, but no injuries or charges resulted. Members also dealt with four traffic complaints, a false alarm and one false 911 call.

Unity RCMP reminds residents that some minor property crimes, frauds, and traffic complaints can be reported online through the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Online Crime Reporting system.
