Nine teams got together again this year for the SPFA Slo-Pitch tournament for Autism awareness in Swift Current.
"This year (we) raised just about $2500 out of Swift Current," said tournament convenor Vincent Sebo.
On their website, the SPFA noted they offer a series of tournaments to "raise Autism awareness by spending some time at each tournament talking about Autism to the participants, to raise understanding by educating people on the facts of Autism, and to hopefully help people with Autism gain acceptance."
It's an event Sebo took over running in recent years.
"We just didn't want it to disappear out of Swift Current because it was so successful," Sebo said. "We kept meeting more and more families that were affected with autism. Going through with the tournament, we meet more and more people and find out how widespread it really was."
The teams broke from play on Saturday to hear a presentation by local families on their experience with autism.
Sebo added it's a fun tournament that isn't driven by competition as much as the cause.
