The town is using this year’s federal Canada Community Building Fund (CCBF) allocation of $2,297,922 towards the $15-million infrastructure upgrade to Glenpatrick Drive.
The two-year infrastructure project is replacing water, sanitary, and storm systems while improving and adding sidewalks and pathways to support active transportation and enhance pedestrian connectivity.
Major work in Area 2 — from West Glenhill Drive and Glenpatrick Road to East Glenhill Drive and Glenpatrick Road — was recently completed in time for the increased vehicle and pedestrian traffic that comes with the fall reopening of Glenbow Elementary School.
Construction continues in Area 3, from 236 to 268 Glenpatrick Drive, with crews installing water, sanitary, and storm mains and services. The road and walkways in the construction zone are closed. Temporary water services are installed and operational, and residents have received notices with instructions for waste, recycling, and organics collection during construction.
A road closure is expected to begin next week in Area 5, from 84 Glenpatrick Road to Glenbrook Crescent.
