The Lacombe Museum is relaunching an event aimed at collectors and antique enthusiasts.
The Lacombe Antique Show and Sale will take place Sept. 27 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Memorial Centre. The free event will feature 20 vendors from across Central Alberta, including Rimbey and Bentley, with a few from Lacombe.
Museum director Daniel Becker said some vendors were a surprise.
“We've had some people come out of the woodwork who we did not know were antique vendors, who are collectors and looking to sell and don’t have storefronts,” he said.
Becker said the event has already generated buzz online, with more than 700 people indicating interest. He hopes to see about 500 visitors but wouldn’t be surprised if up to 1,500 attendees show up.
“People love old stuff, I've been to a lot of antique shows and it's just a pretty big draw,” he said with a laugh.
Visitors will have the opportunity to network with the antique community while picking up items they didn’t know they needed.
If successful, Becker said the museum could make the show an annual event. He also thanked the city for providing rental support to help run the event.
