The Swift Current Broncos have two games left to work out the kinks before the start of the WHL regular season.
They're in Manitoba this weekend for two pre-season games against the Brandon Wheat Kings.
Swift Current heads to Brandon tonight, before hosting a special exhibition game in Virden, Manitoba, on Saturday.
"It'll be an opportunity for the guys to be together," said Broncos Head Coach Dean DeSilva. "A little bit of team bonding on the bus. We'll have some fun going out there."
The Broncos are still trying to figure out their opening night roster.
"The players are still trying to make the hockey club," DeSilva said. "We have some decisions we have to make."
The new bench boss understands they will have a lot of work to do with a youthful roster.
"We're going to be a really young team this year," DeSilva said. "It is a rebuilding year. We need to be patient. We are trying to set that foundation moving forward. The players are going to be young, but they've got a really, really good work ethic. We're happy with that. It will be an exciting year, but some peaks and valleys for the fans."
This weekend is also a debut for another rookie.
Austin Mattes cracks the mic for the first time as the voice of the Broncos tonight in Brandon.
"I'm really excited," Mattes said. "I've really been looking forward to it. It's going to be a great broadcast. We've got some good things lined up this year. Not only on the radio side, but on the social media side as well."
