The NextAcre Real Estate Grain Rush made another stop this harvest season, this time at Marvin Hagel Farms. Marvin says his crew is “just over halfway done” with harvest, working steadily through a busy stretch of late summer.
On the farm, Marvin and his team are growing yellow peas, hard red spring wheat, canola, and flax. With about half a dozen people pitching in at different times, Marvin says the workload is heavy but the progress is steady.
He has been farming in the area for over 40 years and says the experience still comes with plenty of challenges and rewards. “I wish everybody else a good harvest too, along the way that it works out for everybody and we can keep plugging away and get it over with,” he added.
As part of Grain Rush, Marvin and his crew received a hot KFC meal for 12, a token of appreciation for the farmers feeding Southeast Saskatchewan.
