The Town of Crossfield says its boil water advisory has been cancelled.

“We are pleased to announce the Boil Water Advisory has been cancelled. Residents and businesses are welcome to use their water as normal,” the town said in a Facebook update on Sunday afternoon.

The advisory was first issued Thursday after a water main break during a repair near the Public Works Shop on Laut Avenue. The town said excavation exposed an issue with the decades-old original installation that caused the connection to separate. It said the break was contained quickly and service restored, though some residents reported reduced pressure.

Potable water had been available at the Community Centre on Mountain Avenue during the advisory. The town had also eased restrictions on Friday from Level 2 to the standard Level 1, which limits outdoor watering to even-numbered addresses on even calendar days and odd-numbered addresses on odd days.

Alberta Health Services says once an advisory is lifted, residents should flush, clean and sanitize areas that had contact with water. That includes running hot and cold taps for five minutes, draining and cleaning refrigerator water and ice dispensers, following manufacturer instructions for cisterns, filters and hot-water tanks, and regenerating water softeners.
