Estevan’s minor football teams were busy this past weekend, competing in games both at home and on the road, and showing plenty of determination across all age groups.

On Friday, the ECS Elecs travelled to Yorkton, ultimately falling 45-13. Despite Yorkton’s strong running game and solid defence, Estevan was able to make big plays, scoring on a blocked punt and an interception. Turner Petterson found the end zone off the blocked punt, while Truman Ciepliski scored on the interception. The team pulled ahead in the second half, showing resilience and determination.

Saturday brought a doubleheader in Weyburn under wet and challenging conditions. The U12 Estevan Chargers faced off against the Weyburn Ravens, falling 20-0, while the U14 Estevan Oilers dropped their rematch with the Weyburn Falcons 10-0.

On Sunday, the U10 Cudas and U10 Razorbacks teamed up for a jamboree with the Weyburn Cardinals, giving the youngest players valuable game experience. Meanwhile, back in Estevan, the U18 Viragos faced the Yorkton Lady Gridders at Woodlawn Athletic Field, ending the matchup with an 85-20 score.

While the results did not all go Estevan’s way, these performances show improvement from previous matchups. Teams are optimistic about carrying that momentum forward as the season progresses.
