Estevan police responded to a variety of calls this week, including vehicle collisions, reports of damage and theft, and incidents involving individuals breaching release conditions.
On September 10, police received a request for a well-being check on a woman in Estevan. Officers attended and confirmed she was safe and well.
That same day, members investigated a single-vehicle collision with a light pole on Kensington Avenue. No injuries were reported, and alcohol was not a factor.
On September 11, police were called to a residence in the central part of the city for a report of an intoxicated man damaging property. A 23-year-old man fled when officers arrived but was located nearby and arrested for breaching release conditions. He was held in custody overnight before appearing in court the following day.
An alarm at a downtown business also prompted a police response. Officers found the building secure with no signs of suspicious activity.
Police received a report of two stolen bicycles. Statements were obtained and the investigation is ongoing.
Later that day, officers responded to a single-vehicle rollover involving a small truck on the south side of the city. No injuries were reported, though the vehicle sustained significant damage and was towed from the scene.
Police were also called about a suspicious person at a west-end business. A 34-year-old Estevan man, known to police, was found in breach of release conditions. He was arrested and held overnight pending a court appearance.
On September 12, police received a report of a possible gas drive-off at a local service station. Officers contacted the customer, who was unaware their payment card had not worked.
A report of willful damage at a seniors’ residential complex in Estevan was also received. Damage had been done inside the building and the matter remains under investigation.
That same day, police investigated a two-vehicle collision in central Estevan. Both vehicles sustained minor damage and no injuries were reported.
Officers also received a report of attempted fraud at a local business. Statements were obtained and the investigation continues.
Police conducted a roadside screening test on a driver after receiving a report of a possible impaired driver entering the city. The driver showed no signs of impairment and passed the test.
Several complaints were also made about malfunctioning railway crossing arms on Kensington Avenue. CP Rail was contacted and dispatched maintenance employees to correct the issue.
On September 13, police responded to two separate reports of a man outside local businesses asking for money. The individual was located and issued a ticket for panhandling under the bylaw.
Police also received a report of a possible impaired driver leaving a local business. Officers patrolled the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.
