RCMP in Weyburn are investigating a report of someone impersonating a police officer after a driver encountered a vehicle with flashing emergency lights near Midale.

Police say the report came in around 10:40 p.m. on Sept. 13. An individual told investigators they were driving on a grid road when a granite grey heavy-duty truck, believed to be a 2000s-model Chevrolet, pulled up behind them with red and blue lights flashing.

Both vehicles slowed down before the truck sped off.

RCMP say the lights were mounted near the rear-view mirror inside the front windshield. The truck was described as having a flat deck and a heavy-duty rack.

The incident remains under investigation.

Police are urging anyone who believes they are being followed by an imitation police vehicle to contact the RCMP right away, and to call 911 in an emergency. Information can also be reported anonymously through Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.saskcrimestoppers.com.

Meanwhile, Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes continues to investigate the suspicious death of a woman near Weyburn on Sept. 12. Police say they are aware of the impersonation report but have found no evidence linking the two investigations.
