Culture Days 1
SM Sept 19

A sure sign of season change is when the City of Swift Current celebrates Culture Days.

This year’s celebration will run from September 19 to October 12, featuring a wide range of events designed to showcase arts, heritage, and cultural diversity in our community.

"This is our fourth year of celebrating Culture Days," City of Swift Current Partnership and Events Coordinator Brad Woods. "It's basically a three-week national campaign to encourage people from across Canada to engage with, participate, and support the arts and cultures in their community."

Swift Current starts their Culture Days with Culture Fest on Saturday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at Market Square.

"The best way to describe it is an extension of the summer market season," Woods said. "We have it at Market Square in conjunction with the farmer's market. Instead of having your vendors that you would have seen over the summer, we bring in some different culturally specific type of activities. We also have the library doing the orange shirt decorating and preparations for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation coming up later in the month.

"We'll have some live performances on stage that basically have a cultural theme. It's very similar to what you would see at a summer market, just with a cultural flair."
