Rocky View Schools (RVS) continues to see lower-than-expected student growth this fall.

At their Sept. 17 meeting, trustees were presented with preliminary numbers showing 29,489 students enrolled — up 246 from last year but 241 short of the division’s projection.

The figure is also lower than the 29,617 students reported to trustees on Sept. 3.

In January, RVS projected 29,730 students would attend its schools in 2025-26, an increase of 487 students, or about 1.7 per cent, compared with fall 2024. The forecast was based on a combination of community growth, grade-to-grade progression, historical trends, and local census and birth rate data.

Officials caution that enrolment is still changing daily as families continue to register or move out of the division. Final numbers will not be confirmed until the end of September.
