11:59 a.m. - Heading into the draft, the Weyburn Red Wings didn't have a selection in the 5th round. A deal with the Nipawin Hawks, though, moved the Wings up to 2nd in the round (50th overall). With that pick, Weyburn went with 06-board goaltender Eric Kahl of the Saskatoon Blazers. Playing in 22 games last year, Kahl finished the season with a GAA of 2.60, and save percentage of .890, picking up three shutouts along the way.

11:48 a.m. - The Red Wings didn't have a selection in the third round, but did in the fourth round. With the third selection in the fourth round (39th overall) head coach Cody Mapes selected 06-born defenseman Morgan Tastad, who played with the Saskatoon Contacts U18 AAA team last year. The blueliner from Loreburn had two goals and eight assists in 43 games.

10:58 a.m. - In the second round, the Weyburn Red Wings selected ninth (22nd overall). With this selection, the Red Wings picked Luke Dahlen. The 06-born forward played with his hometown Saskatoon Blazers last year. In 36 games, he had five goals and 12 assists.

10:21 a.m. - The Red Wings had more than one pick in the first round, choosing ninth overall. With that pick, Cody Mapes selected Logan Pickford. Pickford spent last season with the Saskatoon Contacts U18 AAA program and skated in 44 games. He notched three goals and 11 assists for 14 points.

The SJHL Draft started at 10:00 this morning, and the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings had the first overall pick in the draft.  

Red Wings head coach and general manager Cody Mapes selected 06-born defenseman Rhett Vedress from the U18AA Humboldt Broncos. Originally from Annaheim, SK, Vedress played in 32 games this past season, picking up 19 points, including five goals.
