Lea Beaulieu

(nee Gour)

On July 4, 2022 Lea Beaulieu passed away at the age of 86 at Valleyview Personal Care Home in Brandon, Manitoba.

Predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Patrick “Pat” Beaulieu and her parents Omer and Marie Gour, Lea is survived by her two children Diane Beaulieu-Minary (Scott) and Paul (Sandi), grandchildren Alexa and Karisa Minary and Jean-Luc and Cameron Beaulieu. She is also survived by her sisters Denise (Tony) Daudet  and Terry Robitaille as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Born in Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba November 1, 1935, Lea was the second of three children. After her education in Notre Dame and finding employment in Winnipeg, Manitoba she met her future husband Patrick Beaulieu whom she married in 1956 before moving to Churchill, Manitoba. Lea and Pat moved back to Winnipeg in early 1962 and soon after welcomed their daughter Diane. In 1969, they were thrilled to welcome their son Paul into the world and family.  They successfully operated Pat’s Yamaha in Portage la Prairie for 25 years until their retirement in November of 2002. Sadly Pat passed away in 2003 and they were not able to enjoy their retirement years together.  After living in Portage la Prairie the majority of her life,  Lea made the big decision to move to Brandon in 2012 to be closer to her daughter and family.

Lea enjoyed travelling and had the opportunity to travel extensively from Europe to Japan. She had a deep faith and was a long standing member of the Catholic Women’s League and parishioner of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. She was a strong willed woman who left a lasting impression on everyone she met, and she will be greatly missed by her family.

The family would like to thank the staff at Valleyview Personal Care Home for their compassion and professionalism while caring for Mom.

Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 1125 Saskatchewan Avenue East, Portage la Prairie.

As expressions of sympathy, as friends so wish, donations can be made in Lea’s memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 40 Royal Road N., Portage la Prairie MB R1N 1V1, or a charity of their choice.
