A robbery/carjacking that took place over the weekend in Portage la Prairie has led to multiple arrests.
According to the police report, the incident took place on July 16th at approximately 9:15 p.m., when RCMP responded to a robbery at a business on Saskatchewan Avenue East.
Police say that a 48-year-old woman was sitting in her vehicle in a parking lot when a man wearing a balaclava opened her door, flashed a knife and forced her out of the vehicle. The women got out, and the suspect and two other men got in the vehicle and fled. The woman was not physically injured during the incident.
RCMP officers from Headingley and Stonewall note that they located the vehicle near Oak Bluff. However, the vehicle refused to stop and continued into Winnipeg.
The suspect vehicle stopped on McGillivray Blvd in Winnipeg, and the three suspects took off on foot.
RCMP Police Dog Services, along with Winnipeg Police Service General Patrol Units, AIR1, and the Tactical Support Team, attended the area to assist, and the three suspects were located and arrested without incident.
A 15-year-old man from Brandon has been charged with:
- Robbery
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Disguised with Intent to Commit Offence
- Fail to Comply x4
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon
Dorian Myerion, 19, of Portage la Prairie, has been charged with:
- Robbery and Failing to Comply.
Rishawn Assiniboine, 24, of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
- Robbery
All three men were remanded into custody.
Portage la Prairie RCMP continue to investigate.
