Unfavourable circumstances may stop some, but not the Herman Prior Activity Centre.
Tomorrow night is scheduled to be one of the centre's most prolific days as they host their August Car Hop, but as Kathy Bryce, executive director for the centre explains that the forecasted weather and performers cancelling has made things rather tricky. However, she says there will be no stopping this party.
"What we thought we would do is if it's raining, we will just have the event indoors. So, I am in the process of getting some live entertainment to come to play indoors, and if it's not raining, they will play outside," continues Bryce. "We did have a problem where our DJ had to cancel at the last minute due to illness. So yeah, it's been a bit of a struggle here, but I'm working on some live entertainment, and in fact, my brother Johnny Dietrich is going to come and play some for us from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m."
The executive director shares that there were supposed to be dancers for the event, but unfortunately, they cancelled as well. Still Bryce notes that if anyone would like to get up and dance to the live music, they are more than welcome.
The event will go from 4:30 - 7:30 with burgers, hotdogs, chips and soft drinks available for $10, with funds going toward phase two of the new offices at the centre.
"it's just a good fundraiser for Herman Prior Center, and it's always a fun time," says Bryce.
Bryce concludes that although the cars may not be the centre of attention if they are forced by mother nature to go inside, she hopes many people come out to support the centre.
