It is with deep sadness we wish to announce that Richard James Greggains, son of the late Richard 'Dick' Greggains and Catherine 'Kate' Cumming, departed this world at Regina, Saskatchewan on Friday, August 12, 2022. Richard, or "Richie" as many people had fondly referred to him, was born in Moose Jaw but grew up on the Greggains' family farm at Mortlach. He left school at a young age to help run the family farm, but eventually resided in his home here in Moose Jaw where he assumed various paid and volunteer laborer positions until his retirement.

Richard had a sport for every season: hockey, curling, baseball, and football. Although he had no children of his own, he was a cherished uncle to several. Predeceased by his parents, a young infant brother Ronald, sister Dianna, and multiple fur babies over his 77 years here on earth, Richard leaves to mourn: two brothers, William and Edward; two sisters, Dolly and Rosemary; a football team of cousins; a baseball team of nieces, a hockey team of nephews, several great nieces and nephews, and a curling team of great-nieces and nephews.

Trumpet player, animal lover, farmer, fisherman, laborer, curler, gardener, small engine repairman, Richard was truly our family rock - stoic and sarcastic, yet soft-spoken, sensitive and subtle. We shall miss his contributions to family dinners and discussions, and we shall fondly remember his cheeky grin, his awkward telephone brevity, and his futile attempts to seem witty when he was complaining or grumbling the way the old farm boys tend to complain.

In keeping with Richard's wishes, there will be no funeral service. Instead, a private family internment will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to Moose Jaw Humane Society. The family would like to thank Darci Wilson, doctors and staff at both Dr. F. H. Wigmore Regional Hospital in Moose Jaw and Regina General Hospital, as well as W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home and Crematorium for their professionalism and supportive efforts in attending to Richard's final wishes.

Your silence was our strength;

Your smile was our sunshine;

Your sensitive nurturing was our support.

Richard, Richie, Rich, Uncle Richard, Uncle Richie, Uncle Rich, we will miss you so dearly ~LA

In living memory of Richard, a memorial planting will be made by W.J. Jones & Son Ltd. Please sign the memorial register at website: www.jonesparkview.com (Obituaries).
