New information is coming about a train derailment that took place near Portage in January of 2019.
On January 3rd, 2019, CN police were dispatched to investigate the incident and get the train upright. There were no injuries or fatalities in the derailment, which saw 8 cars and 2 locomotives fall off the rails. Fuel was leaking, but was contained before any further damage could be caused.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) announced today that they will be holding a news conference on Wednesday, August 24th, in the Clarion Hotel & Suites Manitoba Room, at 1445 Portage Avenue in Winnipeg. Kathy Fox, the TSB Chair, Rob Johnston, Manager of Central Regional Operations - Rail, and Abe Aronian, Senior Investigator will all be in attendance.
