The Portage Terriers are back on the road tonight. They are heading off to Winnipeg for their first meeting of the season against the Blues.
Portage enters this contest on a three-game win streak after picking up a pair of victories over the Virden Oil Capitals and snatching a win from the Winkler Flyers earlier in the week.
Two Terrier defencemen have been on fire lately, with Hayden Lacquette being named the MJHL's Defenceman of the Month for September and is tied for second among blueliners in points with eight. Brandon McCartney has also been recognized by the league as he was one of the Three Stars of the Week last week for his five-point performance in a three-game span.
The Blues have also had a couple of defenders impress over the first few weeks of the season as Mattew McLeod leads all defencemen in scoring with ten points and Jack Kaiser is tied with Lacquette for second place with eight points.
The Dogs currently have the second-highest goal differential in the MJHL with +8, while the Blues are also on the positive side with a +2. Portage also has the league's second-best power-play, converting 28.6 percent of their chances, however, the Blues come into this game with the least amount of penalty minutes in the East Division (77).
These two squads will face off tonight at the RINK Training Centre with puck drop set for 8:00. You can listen to the game live on CFRY.
