Lynda Marlene Webb (nee Henderson)
After a long courageous battle with multiple illnesses, Lynda Webb passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at the age of 75.
She was predeceased by her husband Bill in 2001, mother Eileen Henderson in 2005, father Bob Henderson in 2008, mother and father-in-law Cliff and Olive, stepson Garnet Webb, sisters and brothers-in-law Fred McDonald, Sheila Henderson, Ron and Helen Borton, Margaret and Gordon Cann, Norma and Kelly Smith, Carol Webb, Don and Eileen Webb.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Rob (Laura) Webb and Sherri (Al) Walker, grandchildren Jennifer (David) Walker-Miller, Daniel (Emalee) Walker, Krista (Dustin) Walker and Ryan Walker, sister Shirley (Rick) Henderson, brothers Dale (Kathy) Henderson, Rick Henderson, Walter (Johanes) Webb, along with numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.
Lynda was born in Portage la Prairie and grew up in Delta, where she attended Delta Beach school until grade 8 and then went off to PCI where she stayed with Auntie Shirley and Uncle Allan for the winter months and then back to Delta for the summer. When mom was finished high school, she moved out to an apartment with her sister Shirley and began working at the Manitoba School.
Mom met the love of her life, Bill, in 1966 and was married May 6, 1967. They bought a house together and had two children, Rob in 1967, and Sherri in 1968. Mom worked at various jobs throughout her life: IGA, Fred’s M&M, Portage Golf Club, The Met and Bell’s Lodge at Delta. She then found her true passion for Bookkeeping and worked at many different places: City Centre Esso, Essence Tea House, Zerkas and finally was the Executive Director at Meals on Wheels until she was forced to retire due to a stroke in 2003.
Mom was a wonderful cook and enjoyed hosting Christmas supper alternating with Shirley every other year. That was the time the family would get together for the huge Christmas feast with her brothers and sisters and their families and afterword play all sorts of games.
Mom and dad built their own home in the Peony Farm where they lived for 31 years. After dad’s passing in 2001, she continued to live in the house until her stroke in 2003 where she found living on her own too difficult. She then moved into the Duchess apartment until her passing. Due to her failing health and losing the ability to drive she was not able to do the things she loved like going on gambling trips and playing bingo. Tv became her favorite pastime. She became quite the baseball and curling fan. If there was curling on in the middle of the night, then she would wait to go to bed when that game was over.
The highlight of her life was going on trips out West to visit family and friends and later traveling down South to Arizona with dad for the Winter. Then, in 1993 came her first granddaughter that she adored and shortly after she was so proud to announce that she was the grandmother of twins and finally her last grandson whom she grew close bond with through many long distant calls. Mom loved all of her grandchildren very dearly was very happy when they would stop for a visit. She was so proud of each of their accomplishments. Mom had a special bond with her Auntie Shirley as did most of the siblings and great nieces and nephews. Marge Warren was also a special friend to her. She would come and pick mom up and take her to her house for supper and often stop by with homemade goodies for her as did her sister Shirley. An honorable mention was her special friend Eddy Stoughton. He would stop by with coffee and donuts once a week and they would just sit and talk. Most medical appointments to Winnipeg were made possible with Eddy driving her which we would like to give a sincere thank you.
To Mom,
Thank you for always taking the time to listen to me and to be there for me no matter what. I appreciate everything you have done for myself, Al and our children. I will always cherish the time we spent together. I will miss you dearly. Take care my mom – my friend until we meet again.
Love Sherri
