Marcel “Mouse” Ricard
It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Marcel “Mouse” Ricard on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at Portage District General Hospital. “Mouse” passed away at the age of 70 years.
Left to mourn his passing are his daughters Patricia McDonald of Portage la Prairie and Donna Ricard of Winnipeg, his ex-wife and very good friend Jay-Ann Ricard and his special friend and caregiver, Louise Downing.
Grandchildren Brendan Ricard, Gade Ricard, Dylan Bone, Reese Ricard and all his grand-pups. Siblings Shirley (Clarence) Allard, Martha Ricard, Wayne Ricard and Louis Ricard who he loved so much.
He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, Aunts, Uncles, cousins, in-laws, many great friends and honourary daughters and sons that were all very special to him.
Mouse was predeceased by his parents Alma and Doc.
Mouse was born in Portage la Prairie in 1952 and raised in St. Ambroise. He met Jay-Ann in BC where they married and had their two daughters, Trish and Donna. In Vancouver, Mouse worked at Nova Lumber Sawmill until moving back home to Manitoba in 1986. He worked for many years at Good Year/Fountain Tire, Manitobah Inn, Portage Hotel and at High Tech Industries.
Mouse had a huge heart and mischievous sense of humour. He loved to tease everyone around him and will always be remembered for his story telling with everyone he met. He loved to play guitar and sing and was very proud that his grandchildren are also very musically talented. One of his favourite things to do was to work on cars. He especially loved helping his daughter’s friends work on their cars because it meant he held a captive audience for the time. He loved going for rides, checking out good finds at the dump and deer hunting in the fall. Mouse enjoyed spending time with good friends, including Mike Saltise, Marc Klyne, Bob Scott, Jimmy Klyne and Nick Marchessault. His friendly banter with Dr. Parker was also a favourite.
We will miss him a lot, but we know he is now at peace and hanging out with his mom and dad in Heaven.
Viewing & Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 from 7:00 – 8:00 pm at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel. Memorial Mass will take place on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. Ambroise Catholic Church, Father Michael Savarimuthu officiating. Interment to follow at St. Ambroise Cemetery.
