Team Heidt fell in the afternoon draw to Team Jacobson 10-4 and their 2023 SaskTel Tankard has come to an end.

After starting off with with back to back losses, Joshua Heidt and his team from the Kerrobert Curling Club have won two in a row, and will have to win in the Saturday afternoon draw against Team Jacobson to stay alive.

Meanwhile, after Team Flasch won their first two games, they have lost three consecutive times and are out of the Tankard.

Through four draws at the 2023 SaskTel Tankard, Biggar's Colton Flasch and Kerrobert's Joshua Heidt have seen some mixed results from their teams. Both teams were featured in last nights draw from Affinty Place in Estevan.

Team Heidt matched up against Team Kleiter and fell 7-3 in only 8 frames. They will play again tonight in the 7:30 PM draw against a TBD opponent in the C portion of the bracket.

Team Flasch on the other hand moved to 2-0, after the defending champions defeated Team Hartung 8-2. Their next action will be at 3:00 today in the final game of the A bracket as they look to stay perfect.

Expect an update later on this afternoon and throughout the weekend as local teams vie to represent Saskatchewan at the upcoming Brier.

This morning's first draw featured Biggar native Colton Flasch and his opening game of the SaskTel Tankard as Team Flasch attempts to defend their title.

They were up against Team Jacobson and cruised to a 9-4 victory in 9 ends.

Neither of the local teams will be in action for the 3:00 PM draw, but both Team Flasch and Team Heidt out of Kerrobert will be in action at 7:30 PM. Heidt is still awaiting his opponent for tonight's draw, and Team Flasch will be up against Team Hartung.


ORIGINAL: Thursday, Feb 02, 2023, 9:00 AM

The 2023 SaskTel Tankard began yesterday in Estevan. Both Team Heidt out of Kerrobert and Team Flasch out of Saskatoon are teams in the competition that have local ties.

West Central's Team Heidt features lead Joshua Heidt, third Drew Heidt, and lead Tyler Gamble. The team is coached by Mark Lang.

Team Flasch is based out of Saskatoon, though fourth Colton Flasch is a Biggar native. He is joined by third Catlin Schneider, second Kevin Marsh, lead Dan Marsh, and coach Jamie Schneider. The team is looking to defend their title as Team Saskatchewan after winning last years event and representing the province at last years Brier.  

The first draw of the tournament went yesterday at 7:30, and Team Heidt was in action, dropping their opener 8-4 to Team Bernath.

The action picked back up at 9:00 am sharp this morning, with Team Flasch opening up play on Sheet 1 against Team Jacobson.
