Selkirk RCMP have arrested a 32-year-old man after receiving a report that he was leaning out of a window of the Lord Selkirk Hotel in Selkirk with a long gun.
According to the police report, officers attended immediately and contained the area, blocking streets, clearing the hotel, and putting adjacent businesses on lockdown Monday morning at approximately 10:10 a.m.
The RCMP put out a public notice to avoid the area.
Police say the 32-year-old suspect made his way to the roof of the building, where officers could contact the suspect. He came down from the roof and was arrested without incident.
Searching the man’s room at the hotel resulted in officers seizing a long-barrel pellet gun. Nobody was physically injured.
Selkirk RCMP continue to investigate.
