Business owners influenced by the west end construction in Portage will get an update this evening as to how the city work to affect them.
"We heard so much from our members about the lack of communication and not knowing what was happening," explains Cindy McDonald, Executive Director of the Portage and District Chamber of Commerce.
The meeting will be held by the City of Portage la Prairie in conjunction with the Chamber at the William Glesby Centre at 5 p.m.
McDonald adds that this is an opportunity for the business community to ask for timelines and further details.
"We advocated to the city to say, 'We need to get more communication going with this.' So, they put a piece together, and it's been sent out to all the west end businesses."
While the development of the city's west end has taken some time, the Executive Director says it will all be worth it.
"It's going to look amazing when it's done. It will be beautiful and just a little pain for a lot of gain, right? We have to get through the next year, and things will be good after that."
With Portage's weather struggles top of mind, the Chamber notes that they will move the meeting to an online experience if they have to.
