Enns Brothers in Portage la Prairie was the location of the Make-A-Wish spring basket draw last Thursday.

Make-A-Wish annually receives donations from community groups to raffle off and uses that raffle money to make sick children's dreams come true.

This year's spring raffle featured two bikes donated from Enns Brothers, a $300 gift card to Panko's Food Centre and a $200 gift card for Mr. Mikes SteakhouseCasual to be won.

After all was said and done, the community contributed $5000 worth of raffle tickets.

The lucky winners included:

  • Liz Ferguson who won the bikes
  • Amy Campbell won the $300 gift card from Panko's
  • Nicole Spence won the Mr. Mikes Steakhouse Casual's $200 gift card

Marion Campbell from Make-A-Wish says the group is happy to see this support.

"We grant wishes to children with life-threatening diseases, just whatever the child wants."

Campbell explains that being a part of Make-A-Wish means a great deal to her.

"When you see the smiles and memories you are giving these families, it's just worth every minute that you spend trying to raise money."

Leanne Dewis from Make-A-Wish

Campbell has been a part of Make-A-Wish for 35 years, an experience that she finds very fulfilling.

"I find it very, very rewarding," she continues. "I just thank everybody for buying tickets. We could not raise these kinds of funds without them."
