TRAVIS RONALD BULLIED

July 30th, 1959 - April 30th, 2023

The Bullied Family lost its youngest sibling and, along with extended family and friends, is heartbroken by the huge gap left behind. Travis Ronald Bullied aged 63 years of Regina, SK, passed away on Sunday, April 30th, 2023.  Travis is survived by brothers: Larry Quiding, Ken Bullied (Carol - deceased), Richard (Dorothy)Bullied, Robert Bullied, and Harold Bullied; sisters, Janet Bullied and Marg (Greg) Van Alstine; aunt, Maida Fysh; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and cousins; as well as friends … so many friends wherever he went.

Trav was born to Jarvis and Vera Bullied and raised in Moose Jaw, SK. We  all knew we were in for something special when, at the age of 3, Trav was able to identify the performers and songs on every 45 rpm record label in the huge Bullied collection!  Music was in his future.  In 1976, the widowed Vera returned to the family farm and Travis bussed to school until graduating in 1980. He remained to help on the farm for two additional years, with crops but also beautifying the gardens and flower beds.  He excelled at cross-country skiing at a time that few participated, flying across the fields and valleys at an alarming speed in almost any temperature!  In 1980, Trav left SK, attending school in London, ON to become an audio recording engineer.

His love of music continued. He could play almost any instrument he picked up. His singing voice was amazing. He was discerning in everything he did. He was quick-witted and hilarious. He gathered friends. Ultimately, Trav’s farm-based interest in landscapes and growing plants propelled him to accept a horticultural position with a private park in London, launching a new, lifelong career of horticulture, parks and plants. His knowledge was formidable!  He loved his work. He gathered friends.  His horticultural career included positions in London, Stratford, and Toronto, ON.

In 2007, Trav brought his talent back to SK, where he held positions in Swift Current, Moose Jaw (designing the McCaig Gardens plantings), and The University of Regina.  Everywhere Trav lived and worked he gathered friends. He was talented in so many areas: mechanics, any trade required to renovate two of his homes, design (his eye for layout was polished, whether a landscape or furniture) and, of course music, having a large contingent of karaoke friends and supporters!

In early retirement in Regina, Trav moved back toward music and enjoying his plants and gardening. He walked for miles each day thru Wascana Park.  He gathered more friends. He had an amazing ability to incorporate and keep many pleasures in his life: design, plants, music, friends, good wine, photography and family (lucky us).  He took a sincere interest in everyone.  When he asked how you were, he truly wanted to know.  Yet throughout his life Travis was also a very private person.

Our take-away for you: as Trav did, hold your family and friends close. Life is hard. Do not isolate yourself. Share any fears or worries you may have with family and friends you trust.

At Trav’s request, we will gather with friends and family to share stories before scattering his ashes at a date to be announced. Please remember Trav as you tend your flowers or garden, cook and entertain friends, share a laugh, raise a glass of wine, snap a photo, play your favourite instrument, or hum a melody.  He lives forever in our hearts.
