Jake Wall - 1928 – 2023 - A Life Well Lived

We are sad to announce the passing of Jake Wall of Swift Current on June 1, 2023.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Parkside Funeral Home with a reception to follow. Address - 69 4th Ave NE, Swift Current, SK

Born in Rhineland, Saskatchewan on November 29, 1928, Jake was the eldest son of Peter and Elizabeth Wall. He is predeceased by a son Kerry Richard, his loving wife, Margaret, and his sister, Betty.

Jake is survived by his sons Terry (Cheryl) of Regina, Saskatchewan, and Ron (Susan) of Fenton, Missouri, grandchildren Taylor, Lauren, and Austin, sister Anne and brothers Pete (Marian), Frank (Maxine), and John (Alice).

Kind, giving, and not one to stay long at social functions, Jake first worked at Beaver Lumber for 10 years and then moved just across the street to Revelstoke Lumber, where he left his mark for the next 25 years. He said that his calling in life was to be a lumberman and that he was. He built three houses and could always be counted on to stop whatever he was doing and open up the store so someone could get a few more sheets of plywood for a project.

But more than that, Jake was a man of a deep and abiding faith. With no formal education, he became a self-taught scholar of the Old Testament, often reading through the Bible twice each year. He served the Southside Church of God for many years as church treasurer, custodian, and board member. He generously contributed his time and talents to help others out when they needed it most.

He loved gardening and took up photography as a hobby. An early adopter of technology, Jake was one of the first on his block to get a personal computer and continued to stay on top of what was happening in the world with his iPad. He loved getting together with friends at the local McDonalds where he enjoyed coffee, a carrot muffin and chatting with the staff.

Special thanks to the kind staff at The Bentley who made Jake’s last year comfortable and welcoming and to Home Care for their support.
