The Portage Terriers are making their first trade of the offseason. The Dogs acquired 2004-born forward Kalen Reynolds and 2005-born goaltender Gavin Renwick from the Neepawa Titans for a fifth-round draft pick and future considerations.

Reynolds is a Winnipegger who played 56 games over the last two seasons with the Titans. He scored four goals and dished out seven assists in Neepawa last season. The 19-year-old has two more seasons of Junior A Hockey eligibility.

"He's a great kid with so many unteachable skills," Terrier assistant coach Robby Moar explains. "There aren't many players his size that can skate as well as he can. He will stand out when he's out there. I know he will come in the fall in shape and ready to make an impact."

Renwick had a record of 8-10-3 in 2022-23, very similar to his first season in Neepawa, where he finished the season 8-11-0. Coach Moar is very optimistic about what the Wellwood, Manitoba product can bring to the Terriers.

"Gavin is a young guy with a lot of MJHL experience already," says Moar. "He takes his craft very seriously and is dedicated to improving and being the best goalie he can be. The sky is the limit when you have a work ethic like his."

Reynolds and Renwick will get the chance to face their former team on opening night as the Terriers take on the Titans in Neepawa on September 23.
