EPS: Man charged in alleged murder at LRT station

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has charged a man with the alleged murder of another man at the Belvedere LRT station over the weekend. 

On Sunday night, officers were sent to the station to respond to a weapons complaint. Upon arrival, they discovered a dead man with suspicious injuries. 

Homicide detective took over the scene and an investigation resulted in the arrest of 27-year-old Jamal Wheeler who is now facing a charge of second-degree murder. 

An autopsy on the body found at the scene is scheduled to be performed on Wednesday (July 12). At this moment, investigators do not believe that the victim and suspect were known to each other.
