Kenneth Evan Boak

It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of Kenneth “Ken” Boak, loving husband, father, son and brother. Ken passed away at his home in Edwin on August 28, 2023 at the age of 66 years.

Ken is lovingly remembered by his wife Carolyn (nee Armishaw); daughter Angela (Shelby) Nelson; mother Margaret Boak (nee Patsack); sisters Sharon Delorme and Lynn (Andrew) Dunlop; in-laws Jeannie (Gerry) Cook, Harry (Lori) Armishaw, and Gwen Armishaw; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Ken is predeceased by his father Arthur Boak; in-laws Tom and Bessy Armishaw; brother-in-law Bill Armishaw; niece Kylie Armishaw; special cousin Don Boak; and his beloved dog Mocha.

Ken grew up on a farm in Edwin, Manitoba. He grew up helping out on the farm before obtaining his mechanics red seal. After obtaining his certification, Ken took over farming during the summer and being a mechanic in the winter until retiring from farming in 2005. After retiring from farming, Ken still had the farming itch and spent his summers “farming” by growing his garden and tending to his lawn.

Ken had a special love for his tomato and pepper plants and lawn. Ken also had a special love for animals, including his fur children Gunner, Gus and Max. Gunner the dog and Ken could be seen riding around town running errands or just out for a drive. Ken was also a classic car enthusiast frequenting car shows in his classic car. Ken even built his daughter a classic car of her own to attend car shows with him.

A viewing and visitation will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Ken’s memory to Portage Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), 121 12th St. NE, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 4A2.

A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel.
