Students, faculty, family and friends gathered at St. Peter’s College on Saturday morning for their annual Awards Celebration and Luncheon. This year new and returning students benefitted from the scholarship, awards and bursary program to the tune of over $100,000. The awards recognized not only academic merit, but excellence in many endeavours including commitment to community service.

Dr. Jim Dosman represented the Board of Governors and introduced guest Donna Harpauer, MLA for Humboldt-Watrous, Finance Minister, and Deputy Premier. Donna Harpauer brought greetings from the Minister of Advance Education Gord Wyant. She spoke about the importance of St. Peter’s College in serving as the launching point for many young professionals who have gone on to contribute in building the province and the country with their skills and initiative.

The College Faculty and staff joined in the celebration, presenting awards to the students, many of whom are just embarking on post-secondary studies. Students hail from local areas and also represent all of the prairie provinces. The College’s unique rural setting, its small classes and personalized instruction, and its affiliation with the University of Saskatchewan make for a mix that continues to attract students entering a broad range of programs.

Following the award presentations, participants visited during a beautiful catered lunch. Fall is always a time when St. Peter’s College glows with natural beauty. It’s also an exciting time for students to arrive and celebrate their hard work and community efforts with the awards event.
