Rocky View Schools (RVS) is looking to add a new Kindergarten to Grade 8 (K-8) school in Crossfield.
RVS is hoping the school will have a capacity for 600 students as it's in RVS’ 2024 - 2027 Capital Plan for 2025.
"It is number 10 on the list of RVS’ top priorities," stated RVS.

The site they are looking at to build the school in Crossfield is build-ready, The RVS Board will continue advocating to the provincial government for all new schools on its capital plan.
In the latest RVS Board meeting, it was identified that as of September 20, RVS had 28,586 students in the division. According to the meeting Crossfield has seen about a 20-student increase compared to last school year.
"In 2022/23, Crossfield Elementary was 79 per cent utilized and W.G. Murdoch was 98 per cent utilized. The overall utilization rate in Crossfield schools was 89 per cent."
Official enrolment numbers will be available shortly after September 30, stated RVS.
The same is true for schools in Airdrie, Cochrane and Chestermere. According to RVS, in 2022/23, RVS’ overall utilization rate at all of its schools was 92 per cent. Without new schools, this will rise to 101 per cent by 2025.
