The Humboldt Broncos used their trademark speed, relentless forward pressure and a solid measure of defense to put the Notre Dame Hounds on ice this past Sunday. The 7-1 final serves notice to other teams in the league as the teams begin to navigate deeper into the regular season.
The Broncos’ Maddox Amaral wasted no time, jetting the Broncos ahead two minutes in with an unassisted goal, his first of the season. Cage Newans took advantage of a power play at the 10-minute mark of the opening frame, taking a feed from Patrick Lanthier. Newans was back at it with another power play marker thanks to an assist from Daylan Weigle. Newcomer Brayden Skogstad scored his second of the season, unassisted, to round out the Broncos’ scoring in the second.
The lone Hounds goal came in the dying minutes of the second with a power play effort by Vincent Palmarin.
The Broncos went back to work in the third as Connor Thue tucked a back-to-back pair past Hounds’ goalie Johann Tremblay-Kau. Chase Cooke capped the Broncos’ night with a feed from Jeter Korte to pull in with a 7-1 win.
Broncos netminder Benjamin Motew had to contend with only 17 shots throughout the game compared to the Hounds’ Tremblay-Kau who faced a daunting 52.
The Broncos are back on home ice tomorrow, Wednesday, October 11, when the Weyburn Red Wings Roll into the EPA. Game time is 7 pm, and the call is right here on 107.5 Bolt FM.
