While the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings weren't able to pick up the win Saturday night against the Flin Flon Bombers, they continued their point streak at Crescent Point Place, as the Bombers came away with a 2-1 shootout victory. The Red Wings have yet to lose in regulation at home this season and stayed ahead of the Melville Millionaires for first in the Viterra division.

The two teams were evenly matched throughout the game, with both teams getting 28 shots on net. In goal, both netminders were near perfect.

In the Weyburn end, Dazza Mitchell turned aside 27 shots, with the lone blemish on his record, outside of the shootout, coming at the 6:31 mark of the second period. Carter Anderson would get the puck past Mitchell on a shot he didn't cleanly see, and the Bombers had an edge.

At the other end of the ice, Kenneth Marquart would give up his lone goal outside of the shootout with 9:58 on the clock. Blake Betson notched his second of the campaign, unassisted, to even the score up.

In the third period, both teams had a number of great chances to score, but the closest was from the Bombers. With 8:37 to play, Koen Senft thought he had put the puck past Mitchell. However, in doing so, he had collided with the Weyburn goalie, and the goal was immediately waved off. Senft would also get a two-minute minor for goaltender interference on the play.

In overtime, neither team was able to sustain pressure, and as a result, they went to a shootout.

In the shootout, Jacob Vockler, the first shooter for the Bombers, scored to put the pressure on the Wings. Jacob Visentini, though, would respond to the pressure and got the puck past Marquart.

The next two shooters for the Bombers would miss the net, while Marquart would poke the puck away from Elijah Anderson, and Jerome Maharaj would have the puck get caught up on some snow while attempting to make a deke around the goalie.

Alexi Sylvestre would shoot fourth for the Bombers, and beat Mitchell, putting all of the pressure on Betson. Betson, though, would get stopped by the Flin Flon goalie, resulting in the Bombers win.

The Red Wings will now get set for their next home game, coming up on Wednesday when they host the Notre Dame Hounds at Crescent Point Place. The Hounds are still looking for their first win of the season, and are hoping they can break the skid in their second visit to Crescent Point Place this year. Meanwhile, the Wings will look to record their first victory since they entertained the Hounds back on October 3rd.
