A 34-year-old female Long Plain First Nation driver is looking at impaired driving charges following a single-vehicle crash in Portage la Prairie.
Police say they were first notified on October 15th when they received a call about a single-vehicle collision with two occupants on Royal Road South. When officers arrived, they had grounds to believe that the 34-year-old woman driver from Long Plain First Nation had consumed alcohol before getting behind the wheel.
According to the police report, the driver was transported to a local hospital for precaution and released shortly after. The driver was arrested and taken to the RCMP Detachment to provide breath samples to be analyzed. Those results were more than the legal limit for someone to drive. She faces charges of Impaired Operation of a vehicle. She was released to appear in court at a later date.
The passenger did not sustain any injuries; however, they had an outstanding Warrant of Arrest. The 31-year-old man from the RM of Portage was arrested in relation to the Warrant and released to appear in court at a later date.
