Lundar RCMP respond to deadly ATV collision 

An autopsy is being conducted, and an investigation is ongoing after a 70-year-old Manitoban was found dead. 

The Police report states that on June 11, at 2:15 a.m., Lundar RCMP received a report of a missing 70-year-old man from Faulkner, Manitoba.

Preparations were being made to begin a search by ATV when it became light.

At 5:10 a.m., Lundar RCMP received a report of a single ATV rollover on Faulkner Road.

The ATV driver was the 70-year-old man who had been missing. When officers arrived on the scene, the driver had been pronounced deceased. 

Portage Legion celebrates 150 years of RCMP service

The Portage RCMP detachment got a new piece of hardware to display. 

On May 19th, in front of many Portage Legions Branch 65 members, RCMP Central Plains Inspector Paul Peddle was handed a plaque on behalf of the Legion, honouring the RCMP's 150th anniversary.

"It was quite the pleasant surprise and something we're very thankful for," says Peddle.

The inspector notes that the Legion's recognition isn't surprising as they have supported the RCMP for countless years.

Portage RCMP searching for answers after several thousand dollars worth of tools stolen

Portage la Prairie RCMP are asking for the public's help to learn more about a theft incident to start the month.

The Police report states that on June 1st, Portage RCMP received a call of a break-and-enter into a residence in the 100 block of 5th Street NE.

The break-in reportedly occurred overnight, and several thousand dollars worth of tools were stolen in this crime. 

Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to call the Portage la Prairie RCMP at 204-857-4445. 

Environment Canada issues Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Portage

Environment Canada is preparing Portage la Prairie residents for the possibility of a severe thunderstorm.

As of 10:52 a.m. on Friday, conditions are developing which could cause dangerous thunderstorms that may produce damaging wind gusts, hail and torrential rain.

Portage RCMP looking for one of Manitoba's most wanted

As you browse through a list of criminals that the RCMP has highlighted as "Manitoba's most wanted" in the western part of the province, you will find one individual that the Portage la Prairie detachment is hoping to apprehend.

Cory Nicholas Woods has been wanted by police since November 25, 2022, for taking off his GPS ankle bracelet, as well as three counts of Failing to Comply Release Order conditions.

Woods is described as 23 years old, 5'11", 195 lbs, with black hair, brown eyes and multiple tattoos.

RCMP arrest 41-year-old after intoxicated disturbance in Elm Creek

RCMP officers needed some help when responding to an unwanted guest complaint in Elm Creek last week.

Police say that on June 2, Pembina Valley RCMP responded to an unwanted guest complaint in Elm Creek where a 41-year-old man, intoxicated & possibly armed, had barricaded himself inside a 2nd storey bedroom.

According to the RCMP, a mediator was needed to arrest the man.

The 41-year-old was arrested without incident, and no injuries were reported.

Missing Manitoban last seen in Winnipeg

Manitoba RCMP is asking for the publics help in finding a 20-year-old from Bunibonibee Cree Nation.

Hayley Stinson was last seen in Winnipeg on May 31 and hasn’t been in contact with her family or police since then.

Stinson is 5’7, 110lbs with black hair & brown eyes.

Anyone with information is urged to contact RCMP at 204-538-2046. 

Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for Portage 

Environment Canada issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch as of 3:16 p.m. Friday afternoon.

Meteorologists are reportedly tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing powerful wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain. This thunderstorm is 20 km northeast of Portage la Prairie, tracking slowly northward.

Environment Canada's radar indicates that between 40 to 60 mm of rain will fall over the next hour.
