The Saskatchewan NDP presented three former Saskatchewan Party members at a news conference on Thursday who say they are endorsing the NDP leader as the next Premier of Saskatchewan.

Carla Beck was joined by Mark Docherty, former Sask. Party Speaker of the House and MLA for Regina Coronation Park for more than a decade, Ian Hanna, speechwriter and senior political adviser to Sask. Party Premier Brad Wall and Glen Hart, former Sask. Party MLA who served Last Mountain Touchwood for 21 years.

Candle Lake Golf Resort catches fire

The resort community of Candle Lake has been dealt a devastating blow as firefighters continued to fight the fire into the day at Candle Lake Golf Resort.

The Chief Administrative Officer for the Resort Village of Candle Lake says the call came into the Candle Lake Fire Department around 12:40 a.m. and when they responded the building was in flames. Brent Lutz says they quickly reached out to the Prince Albert Fire Department, the Garden River Fire Department and the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency to provide support.

STF says cell phones aren’t the real distraction in classrooms

The Saskatchewan Teachers Federation President says cell phones in the classroom may offer a distraction, but teachers have been managing cell phones in classrooms for over a decade and in some instances, it is used to support teaching.

The Government of Saskatchewan announced Monday that starting in September cell phones will not be allowed during class time at K to 12 schools in the province.
