RCMP recover drugs, firearms and cash in multiple searches after arresting Woodlands man

A man from the RM of Woodlands has been arrested and charged along with two other Manitobans following the seizure of drugs, weapons and cash.

On March 22, due to an ongoing investigation, officers from multiple branches of the RCMP executed search warrants at five residences in Fairford.

Police say that as a result of these searches, officers seized over 2.5 kgs of cocaine, numerous firearms and over $25,000 in cash.

Manitoba RCMP ask for help locating wanted man, thought to be in Portage

Wesley Clayton Roulette, 43, of Long Plain First Nation, is wanted by the Portage la Prairie RCMP.

Police are asking for assistance locating Roulette at large on a Warrant of Arrest. Police described him as having a heavy build, standing 5'10", weighing 260 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Roulette is believed to be in the Portage la Prairie area and is facing charges of Failing to Comply with a Conditional Sentence Order.

RCMP investigate stabbing in Selkirk  

Selkirk RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing on Thursday, which has triggered a search for a suspect.

On March 21, 2024, at approximately 10:15 pm, Selkirk RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing in the parking lot of a business on the corner of Main Street and Manitoba Avenue.

When officers arrived, no victims were located. However, patrols were conducted, and two victims were discovered, getting medical attention for stab wounds.

Manitoba farmland values continue to climb

The value of farmland in Manitoba increased in line with the national average in 2023, however, the Eastman region saw prices increase at a slower rate. 

The average value of Canadian farmland increased by 11.5 per cent, slightly less than the 12.8 per cent increase reported in 2022, according to the latest Farm Credit Canada Farmland Values Report.  

Police search for John Aymont on Warrants of Arrest held by Portage RCMP

In a Facebook post made on Wednesday, Manitoba RCMP asked the public for help locating a man wanted on warrants of arrest in the province.

John Allen Aymont, 40, is wanted on several Warrants of Arrest held by the Portage la Prairie RCMP and the Winnipeg Police Service in relation to charges of Assault and Theft Under $5,000. 

Aymont is described as 5'11", 150 lbs, with short black hair and brown eyes.

Police say his current whereabouts are unknown, but he's believed to be in Winnipeg.

Local pharmacist easing community fears of dinosaur spotting in Portage

Local reports are indicating a very much alive T-Rex in the City of Portage la Prairie. Sources have tracked its location to Pharmasave in Portage. Pharmasave owner Caitlin Giercke shared with the residents of Portage that there's a reason for this and they love to have fin with it.

"I guess you could call it our mascot, we call it Pharmasaurus Rex. We try to get it out here and there to get the word out about Pharmasave."

Virden RCMP search for Sioux Valley Dakota Nation woman

Corrie Hillary Hart, 29 years old, of Sioux Valley Dakota Nation, is currently wanted by Virden RCMP for two counts of Failing to Comply in relation to charges of Assaulting a Peace Officer, Public Mischief and Breaching a Release Order.

Corrie Hart is 5’9” and approximately 200 lbs with brown hair and brown eyes. It is believed she may be in Brandon, Sioux Valley, Dakota Nation or Waywayseecappo First Nation.

Treherne impaired driver detailed in RCMP weekly report

The Portage la Prairie RCMP released their report of activity for the week between February 26 and March 3 for the Central Plains. 

The report covers police activity in Portage la Prairie, Amaranth, Treherne and the surrounding Rural Municipality.  

One crime highlighted in the report took place on March 2 at about 8:15 p.m. Officers performed a traffic stop on a vehicle on Railway Avenue in Treherne under suspicion of the driver being impaired in some way.

Virden RCMP investigating homicide

Manitoba RCMP officers are conducting an inquiry into a homicide case, which was first reported to police on Wednesday.

Virden RCMP says that on March 6,  at around 10:05 a.m., a First Nation Safety Officer responded to a well-being check at a Sioux Valley Dakota Nation residence. Upon arrival, the officer discovered a deceased 64-year-old man from Sioux Valley Dakota Nation.

Virden RCMP attended, and the matter is being investigated as a homicide.

Virden RCMP, along with Major Crime Services and Forensic Identification Services, continue to investigate.
