RCMP seize drugs and cash during search
After an ongoing investigation, officers from the Ste-Rose du Lac RCMP, along with the Manitoba West District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team (CREST) unit and Police Dog Services (PDS), conducted a search of a home in Ebb and Flow First Nation last week.
On February 29, officers seized pre-packaged cocaine, methamphetamine, crack cocaine, prepaid credit cards, firearms, ammunition, cash and drug-related paraphernalia.
Officers arrested seven suspects, four of whom were later released without charge.
Another heavy dump of snow on its way to the Central Plains and southern Manitoba
Ahead of a quick-moving shot of snow today and tonight, Environment Canada has issued a Snowfall Warning for much of Southern Manitoba. Even though Portage was on the low end of the snowfall totals Sunday into Monday (8 cm's) there were major disruptions, things were very icy, and many highways needed to be closed. Brandon in comparison had roughly 29 cm's of the white stuff. And here we go again.
This time, 10 to 15 cm's is expected, with the highest totals likely in the Red River Valley and Southeastern corner of the province.
Selkirk RCMP Seeking Assistance in Finding Missing Woman
Manitoba RCMP are searching for a missing 27-year-old woman from Selkirk.
On February 29, at 2:20 p.m., Selkirk RCMP received a report of a missing 27-year-old, Lauren Munro.
Munro last spoke with a member of her extended family on February 10, and RCMP confirmed that she attended the Seven Oak General Hospital on February 21 for a non-urgent matter.
It is believed she is in the City of Winnipeg.
Munro is 5’5” and 145 lbs. with brown hair and brown eyes.
The RCMP and her extended family are concerned for her well-being.
Portage School Division urges parents of 2019 children to register for Kindergarten ASAP
Portage la Prairie School Division Assistant Superintendent Pam Garnham issued a reminder to parents with children born in 2019 at last Tuesday's School Board meeting.
Garnham's notice was simple yet important: register these 2019 children for Kindergarten as soon as possible.
"Please look at the school division website for registration information. We are asking parents to do online registration if they can, and if they can't, then they can go into the school and register the child."
Fisher Branch RCMP searching for Monica Murdock on multiple charges
Fisher Branch RCMP are searching for 28-year-old Monica Murdock for several warrants.
She has charges including Resisting Arrest, Fail to Comply with a Release Order and Fail to Comply with a Conditional Sentence Order.
Murdock’s whereabouts are unknown, but it is believed she’s currently hiding out in Fisher River Cree Nation and is known to frequent the City of Winnipeg.
Murdock is described as 5’9” and 200 lbs with long black hair and brown eyes.
Portage RCMP respond to another armed robbery
Just days after reports surfaced of an armed robbery in Portage la Prairie last Friday, police are sharing details of a similar incident from Wednesday morning.
On February 21, at about 5:10 a.m., police responded to a report of a panic alarm at a business located in the 700 block of Saskatchewan Avenue.
Drunk driver causes 3-vehicle collision on Highway 3, flees, and apprehended by Police Dog Phox
On February 19, at 7:00 p.m., RCMP officers from Stonewall / Headingley and RCMP Traffic Services responded to a report of a three-vehicle collision on Highway 3, located about four kilometres south of Oak Bluff.
Portage RCMP investigate robbery involving firearm and knife
At approximately 9:10 p.m. last Friday, Portage la Prairie RCMP took a call regarding a robbery at a business on Saskatchewan Avenue East.
According to police, two men entered the business on February 16, armed with a firearm and a knife, demanded money, assaulted the employee and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The 31-year-old male victim sustained minor injuries.
The suspects described by the RCMP are men and wearing all dark clothing.

The tour of CFRY Radio Talent Nights stopped in Amaranth, with strong performances leading to donations for Amaranth Hall renovations.
It was a CFRY first as there were co-winners of the CFRY Most Promising Performer. The winners were Aubrey and Kendra Roulette.
RCMP make arrest off Highway 16, end up finding 1kg of cocaine
Manitoba RCMP officers stopped a vehicle on Highway 16 near Newdale on Friday, which led to the occupants of the vehicle leaving on foot.
Police Service Dog Jolt was on the scene and helped track down and arrest a suspect. Officers seized 1kg of cocaine & a cutting agent.
Andres Gonzalez, 31 years old, was remanded into custody.
