Selkirk RCMP asking for help identifying three female carjackers

Selkirk RCMP are asking for assistance in identifying 3 female suspects (pictured below) who, on March 16 at 1:20 a.m., stole a vehicle from the South Beach Casino & Resort parking lot in Brokenhead Ojibway Nation.


The RCMP were advised that two of the suspects drove away in a grey 2006 Honda Civic, while the third suspect fled the scene in the vehicle they arrived in.

Drug bust in Selkirk results in four arrests

Selkirk RCMP have made four arrests and taken more drugs off the streets with a bust in the town last week.

Police say as a result of an ongoing investigation, known as 'Project Distance', into the local drug trafficking network in the Selkirk Detachment area, RCMP officers from the Selkirk General Investigative Section (GIS), along with assistance from multiple branches of the RCMP, executed four Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrants at a residence in Selkirk, a hotel room in Winnipeg and in two vehicles on April 4.

Multiple RCMP cruisers seen on streets before arrest made in Portage

It appeared there were more than the usual amount of RCMP cruisers driving around Portage la Prairie on Wednesday throughout the morning and afternoon. 

At about 4:30 p.m., RCMP officers were seen what appeared to be arresting at least one person, a man, on Lorne Avenue near the corner of 5th St NW. A second person, a woman, was also seen during this arrest. 

No further information is available at this time.

Manitoba RCMP make four arrests on Child Pornography charges

Manitoba RCMP made arrests on charges of Distributing, Uploading, and Possessing Child Pornography over an eight-day period in late March.

Over an eight-day period at the end of March, the Manitoba RCMP Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit executed five search warrants, made four arrests, and removed three children under six years of age from situations where they were being sexually abused and exploited. From those five search warrants, executed from March 18 to March 25, 2024, tens of thousands of child pornography images were located.

Portage RCMP ask public for help in smashed window case 

A broken window to a vehicle in Portage la Prairie has police searching for answers.

On April 3rd, Portage la Prairie RCMP received a report that someone smashed a window on a vehicle in the 500 block of 4th Street NW sometime overnight.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about this crime to call the Portage la Prairie RCMP at 204-857-4445. 

Breathalyzer test results in early morning arrest

A 31-year-old man from Winnipeg is without his license after being arrested after failing a breathalyzer test over the weekend.

Just before 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 7th, a Portage la Prairie RCMP officer initiated a stop with a vehicle on Saskatchewan Avenue as the licence plate associated to the owner had an outstanding Warrant of Arrest out of Lundar. 

During the arrest of the driver, an odour of alcohol was detected by the officer. 

AMM President weighs in on 2024 budget

The 2024 budget announcement sparked a mix of reactions from RMs, as discussed by Kam Blight, President of the Association of Manitoba Municipalities.

Positives included a 2 per cent increase in operating and infrastructure funding, though concerns lingered about meeting inflation rates. Healthcare investments, such as $23 million for rural medical transportation and the restoration of the Doctor Recruitment Fund, were welcomed.

Blight described issues like insufficient investment in water infrastructure and public safety as areas needing attention.

Man arrested for drugs and weapons possession in Sandy Bay First Nation

Members of the Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) arrested a man with an outstanding arrest warrant, which led to further charges for drugs and weapons possession in Sandy Bay First Nation on Wednesday. 

MFNPS members were on patrol and located a man with an outstanding arrest warrant for Failing to Attend Court.

Police approached the man and advised him that he was under arrest for the warrant; the man immediately resisted. They had to deploy a Taser to assist in taking the man into custody. 

Man arrested on 11 charges in Powerview

Powerview RCMP received a report of an assault that occurred at a residence on Highway 11 in the RM of Alexander on Mondaym, April 1, at around 9:55 p.m.

Officers arrived and located a seriously injured woman outside the residence as well as a man holding a young child.

Police determined that the man was the suspect and when officers approached him, he ran into the residence with the child.

Attempts were made for him to hand over the child to family members on scene or police, but he refused.

Ste Rose du Lac RCMP track down prolific Portage offender

On March 28, at approximately 5:00 p.m., officers with the Ste Rose du Lac RCMP were conducting a patrol in Ebb and Flow First Nation when they observed a 31-year-old man, known to have several outstanding Warrants of Arrest.

The officers attempted a traffic stop, but the suspect failed to stop for police. Due to public safety concerns, a pursuit was not initiated.

The suspect's vehicle was located a short distance away as it had entered a ditch at the end of a dead-end road. The suspect fled on foot but was apprehended after pursuit.
