The 2021 Kenora Bass International begins today

The 2021 Kenora Bass International is set to begin today, as anglers from all over compete to be crowned this year's KBI champion.

The tournament officially kicks off today through Saturday, August 5, 2021.

The official start time daily by flights will be 6:30 a.m, with the official weigh-in taking place under the Whitecap Pavilion at 4:00 p.m. today and tomorrow and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Sixty six per cent of the province now fully immunized

The province saw 206 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the past 24 hours. 

Hospitalizations rose slightly by seven to 97 and ICU admissions remained unchanged at 23.

Fortunately, no new deaths were reported, and that total remains at 2,328 in the province.

Over 5.4 million doses of vaccine have made it to the arms of Albertans and that breaks down to 76.1 per cent having received one shot and 66 per cent of the population is now fully immunized.

Cochrane is holding at 17 active cases and Rocky View County has added one case for a total of 20.

COVID-19: 17 new cases, no new deaths

There are more than a dozen new COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday morning.

Seventeen new COVID-19 cases are being announced Wednesday including:

  • nine in the Winnipeg Health Region
  • five cases in the Interlake-Eastern Health Region
  • two in the Southern Health - Saunte Sud Health Region
  • one in the Prairie Mountain Health Region Health Region
  • zero cases in the Northern Health Region

Manitoba's five-day test positivity rate is 2.3 per cent.

August 4: One new positive COVID-19 case discovered

The Northwestern Health Unit is reporting one new positive COVID-19 test result in the district. The positive test result was discovered in the Sioux Lookout Health Region and the person is currently isolating outside of the NWHU catchment area.

Follow up with the person involved and their contacts has started according to protocol. Anyone who is identified as a contact for this case will be contacted directly.

In the region, there are two active cases of COVID-19. One case each in the Kenora and Sioux Lookout Health Regions. 

Region inching closer to vaccine thresholds for Step Three exit

The region has seen low case counts along with high percentages of COVID-19 vaccinations in the last few weeks.

As of yesterday, the Northwestern Health Unit reported only one new positive COVID-19 test result in the region which was the first one discovered since July 22, 2021.

Dr. Kit Young Hoon Medical Officer of Health for the NWHU gave a COVID-19 vaccine update at a media briefing yesterday.
