Residents disheartened by lack of blood donor clinics in the community
Earlier this month Canadian Blood Services (CBS) urged Canadians to roll up their sleeves as national blood inventory is running low. Blood donations have been steadily decreasing since July 1, 2022, leaving the organization with its smallest donor base in decades.
Seeing the plea for donors but the lack of local donation clinics has left many Kenora blood donors frustrated.
Nicole Minner and her mom, who both have O- blood the universal donor, told Kenora Online she and her mom gave religiously knowing that their blood type could have a huge impact.
Three charged with drug trafficking in Sioux Lookout
Three individuals are facing drug trafficking charges following a traffic stop.
On Saturday afternoon around 1:00 pm, August 20, 2022, OPP officers conducted a traffic stop that resulted in the recovery of methamphetamine and cocaine with a street value exceeding $2,500, as well as approximately $5,000 in Canadian currency. As a result of the investigation:

Elizabeth Ave to close Tuesday
Elizabeth Ave from Duke St to Arthur St will be closed to vehicular traffic on August 23, 2022 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Trudeau questions business case for natural gas exports from Canada to Europe

Lawmakers and advocates in the United States are ramping up the pressure on the federal government to ease travel delays between the U.S. and Canada.
The Canadian American Business Council's new campaign, "Travel Like it's 2019," aims to flood federal MPs with public demands for action.
It calls on Ottawa to scrap the troublesome ArriveCan app, a mandatory pre-screening tool for visitors to Canada.
And it wants the federal government to clear the backlog of 350,000 applications for the Canada-U.S. trusted-traveller system known as Nexus.
O.P.P. investigate break-and-enter in Sioux Lookout
The Sioux Lookout O.P.P. is seeking the assistance of the public following a break-and-enter.
Police are investigating the incident, which occurred sometime between Friday, July 22 and Monday, July 25 in the area of King Street and Sixth Avenue North where a window of a corporate building was broken and entry was gained.
The OPP is requesting anyone with information about this incident to contact the Sioux Lookout Detachment at 807-737-2020 or 1-888-310-1122.
Two charged with possession and break and enter in Kenora
Two Kenora residents are facing numerous charges following a break and enter at a Kenora residence.
Kenora OPP says on August 17, 2022, they responded to a break and enter call at a residence on Rupert Road. Prior to police arriving on the scene, the suspects fled in a vehicle. A short time later, officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.
At that time, both individuals were arrested and officers located and seized suspected illegal substances, including methamphetamine and cocaine, Canadian Currency and items associated with drug trafficking.
