Arrest warrant issued, murder charges laid
The Dryden OPP has charged one person with murder and issued an arrest warrant for another individual in connection with a death in Dryden.
OPP has issued an arrest warrant, on a charge of Second Degree Murder, for Wayne Gainer "G" Kejick, age 39 of Kenora.
Gainer is described as Indigenous, 5' 10'' tall weighing 207 lbs with brown eyes and a recently shaved bald head.
Kejick was last seen in Dryden, but is a resident of Kenora.

NWHU: Youth vaccines not available in NWO yet
The Northwestern Health Unit says vaccine doses for those between the ages of six months and five years old are not available in their catchment area yet, but they are coming soon.
Health Canada approved the use of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine for infants and pre-schoolers earlier this week, making it the first COVID-19 vaccine approved for that age group.
Gas prices drop under $2 in NWO
Northwestern Ontario drivers can celebrate (sort of) that gas prices have dipped to under $2 again in the region. The last time that gas prices in the Kenora district were this low was back in May.
Victim of suspicious death identified, one person in custody
An update has been released in regards to a suspicious death that happened in Dryden.
The Dryden Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have released the identity of the victim involved in a suspicious death from an incident on July 13, 2022.
Officers responded to a report of an assault at a home on Whyte Avenue, at the scene, police located the body of 28-year-old David SINCLAIR of Kenora.
Heat warning issued, humidex values near 36 expected this weekend
Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the region.
Hot and humid conditions are expected Saturday into Monday.
Temperatures reaching near 30 degrees Celsius with humidex values near 36 are expected over the next 3 days.
Overnight lows near 18 degrees Celsius will provide little relief from the heat.
The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.
Rickford proud of 3 NWO sport champions
Kenora-Rainy River MPP Greg Rickford is congratulating Dryden’s Roly Miles, northwestern Ontario’s latest national champion, as well as two local hockey heroes.
Rickford notes Dryden was host to the 2022 Canadian PPC National Championships earlier this month with competitors from across Canada and Europe.
Norskies drop out of SIJHL
The Dryden GM Ice Dogs will have one less opponent to play against in the 2022-2023 hockey season.
The Superior International Junior Hockey League has announced that Minnesota’s Thief River Falls Norskies are no longer affiliated with the league and will not be playing next season.
“The Norskies organization wishes to thank the loyal fans, sponsors and season ticket holders for their support these past five years. We were blessed to be a part of this community for the past five years and look forward to your support in our pursuit for junior hockey next season.”

In Kenora Slo Pitch Action, the Devil’s Gap Chiefs took it 24 to 15 over Northern Harbour.
Kenora's Jeff "Gussy" Gustafson is back at it again. He's going into day 2 of the 2022 Guaranteed Rate Bassmaster Elite at St. Lawrence River.
Gussy sits in 24th place after day one with his limit weighing in at 22 pounds and 7 ounces. A comfortable position to continue into day 3 tomorrow, but he'll need to up his game if he wants a chance at Championship Sunday. Weigh-ins go this afternoon.
