Calgary stampedes through Saskatchewan to move into first place tie
It was a tough weekend all-around for the Saskatchewan Roughriders as they suffered their first loss in 2025 against the Calgary Stampeders with a 24-10 loss.
The game was originally supposed to be played on Friday night but was postponed following a three-and-a-half-hour delay to Saturday afternoon due to poor air quality from the smoke of the northern wildfires.
Canada Cup runs in the family for the Gosselin brothers

Easton Gosselin will be a member of Team Saskatchewan this week in Antigonish, Nova Scotia competing in the Football Canada Cup.
Later this month, his brother Carson will be travelling to Nova Scotia as part of Saskatchewan’s entry into the Volleyball version of the Canada Cup.
From local fields to national whistles: Stephen Gray to officiate at Football Canada Cup
Humboldt will not only be represented by a player at the Football Canada Cup this week, but will be present on the officiating crew
Stephen Gray will be in Antigonish, Nova Scotia as part of the officiating crew throughout the week.
He said the selection process for officials began in March when an application was sent to the registered officials. Along with a letter of recommendation, Gray sent in his application and found out in mid-April that he was selected as part of the officiating crew.
Over 200 tickets issued during two-day check stop at Chamberlain
On Wednesday and Thursday, Combined Traffic Services Section (CTSS) hosted a two-day check stop on Highway #11 in Chamberlain.
CTSS units from RCMP Rosetown, Meadow Lake, Maidstone, Martensville, Melfort, North Battleford, Fort Qu’Appelle and Lanigan along with units from both the Saskatoon Police Service and Regina Police Service and the Saskatchewan Highway Patrol.
During the check stop, over 3,000 drivers were stopped.
Royals silence Hoppers bats in 9-0 victory
The Marysburg Royals shut out the Saskatoon Hoppers on Thursday night, picking up a 9-0 victory.
Joel Bauml, Jeff Marshak and Thomas Lessmeister all chipped in to keep the Hoppers off the scoreboard.
Bauml got the victory, tossing five innings, allowing six hits with seven strikeouts. Marshak and Lessmeister each had a scoreless inning.
More rain would be welcomed by local producers
A combination of warm and wet growing conditions has allowed crops to develop nicely around the Humboldt area according to the latest Crop Report from the Ministry of Agriculture, but producers have noted some uneven crop staging which is making fungicide timing difficult. Many producers are applying fungicides to crops given the recent environmental conditions.

It will be a Western showdown with first place in the division on the line at Mosaic Stadium on Friday night when the Saskatchewan Roughriders (4-0) host the Calgary Stampeders (3-1).
Saskatchewan's minimum wage will increase on October 1
The minimum wage is going up in Saskatchewan on October 1.
It will be increased to $15.35.
An indexation formula is used to calculate the province’s minimum wage, which gives equal weight to changes to the Consumer Price Index and Average Hourly Wage for Saskatchewan.
2025 Summer Sizzler was a success
It appears that the 2025 edition of the Summer Sizzler was a smash hit.
Partnering up with Living Skies in the final weekend of June, it was a big crowd at the Uniplex grounds.
Around 3,000 people attended the festivities of the Summer Sizzler throughout the weekend, which is an increase from the prior year. The attendance numbers don’t include the spectators at the Living Skies Festival.
A walk-off win for the 15U AAA Dodgers against the Expos
It was a close one last night in Muenster, but in the end, the East Central 15U AAA Dodgers edged out the Saskatoon Expos 10-9.
Sam Jenkins drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh. Jenkins led the Dodgers at the plate with three hits and drove in four runs.
The Expos opened the scoring in the top of the first inning with three runs. The Dodgers replied with two runs in the bottom of the third inning.
