Gilbertson Family celebrates end of seeding with a delicious Meal in the Field

he Gilbertson Family near Quill Lake were the final winners of the 2025 spring edition of Meal in the Field. Underneath the roasting sunshine, the Gilbertsons were able to celebrate the end of seeding with a delicious meal prepared by the B.V.  

Jocelyn Gilbertson was the one who entered the family into the draw and was the lucky winner for the final meal of the spring.  

Final rehearsal for the Saskatchewan Roughriders

It’s the final test run for the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Friday as they meet the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the last preseason game. 

Last week, the Blue Bombers prevailed in the battle of field goals 15-9.  

With most of the starters with the green and white playing last week in Winnipeg, Roughriders Head Coach Corey Mace will get a chance to assess the depth of the roster this week.  

18U AAA East Central Red Sox crush Sask Five Marlins 11-1

The 18U AAA East Central Red Sox are back at the .500 mark following an 11-1 win over the Sask Five Marlins on Thursday night in Muenster.  

Following a scoreless first inning, the Red Sox rattled off 11 over the next four innings, including four runs in both the 4th and 5th innings.  

Graydn Wilson led the offensive charge at the plate as he ended up with five RBIs, three hits, including a home run. 

Seeding almost completed around Humboldt despite lack of rain, heat and wind damage

Progress continues to be made with seeding in Saskatchewan. According to the latest Crop Report from the Ministry of Agriculture, 88 per cent is completed in the province.  

The Humboldt area is slightly above the provincial mark with 89 per cent of seeding completed, while the northeastern region is 92 per cent completed, which is well above the five-year average of 75 per cent completed.  

Government of Saskatchewan declares Wildfire State of Emergency

Due to the wildfires affecting communities across Saskatchewan, Premier Scott Moe in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) has declared a provincial state of emergency

“We are seeing the devastating effects of wildfires impact communities across our province,” Moe said in a release. “Therefore, today we are making a Provincial Declaration of Emergency to mobilize the resources necessary to safely evacuate Saskatchewan residents and to protect our communities.”

Walking With Heart: St. Mary's Villa Foundation fundraising walk with residents returns June 8

A Sunday stroll that can help raise funds for the equipment and fixtures for a new care home in Humboldt. 

It’s all a part of the “Build a Home” Walk with Residents at the St. Mary’s Villa on Sunday, June 8.  

Beginning at 11:00 am, participants and residents will begin the walk at the corner of 11th Avenue and 14th Street and will walk down to 12th Avenue and walk towards Highway #20 and then head back to the villa.  

Regional Park Pass Lending Program returns for the summer

A popular lending program will return to Saskatchewan this summer.  

The Regional Park Pass Lending Program will return once again. Between June 16 and September 15, 2025, anyone with a valid library card can borrow a pass from any Saskatchewan library and enjoy a seven-day loan period with free access to nearly 100 Regional Parks within the province.
