Broncos will welcome the Warman Wolverines into the SJHL

The Humboldt Broncos will be a part of history during the opening weekend of the upcoming Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) regular season.  

On Monday, the SJHL announced the home openers for all 12 teams.  

The Broncos will head to Warman, on Friday, September 19 to meet the Wolverines. The game will be the first regular season game for the Wolverines after they relocated to Warman from Notre Dame.

To help improve the power system, there will be a power outage in Lanigan on Tuesday, June 24. 

The outage will affect residents residing on the 0 blocks of Calvert Cres (all #s), and Folley Cres (even #s). It will last from 10:30 am until 4:00 pm, weather permitting.

Meadow Severight-Asapace has been located safe

 

Punnichy RCMP are attempting to find a missing 14-year-old girl.  

On June 19, they received a report that Meadow Severight-Asapace was missing and was last seen on the George Gordon First Nation.  

Super Mario goes supersonic in Riders last second victory over the Argos

It came down to the wire on Friday between the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Toronto Argonauts. Fortunately for the green and white, they were the last ones to possess the football 

Mario Alford returned a 99-yard kickoff for a touchdown with eight seconds remaining to give the Roughriders a 39-32 victory in Toronto.  

G Nick Kotai commits to the Humboldt Broncos

The Humboldt Broncos have received another commitment from a goaltender for the upcoming 2025-26 season. This time it’s from a last name familiar to the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) in Nick Kotai. 

A 2007-born goaltender, Kotai appeared in one game last year with the Surrey Eagles of the BCHL. For most of the season, the 5’10 product of Abbotsford BC, was with the Langley Hockey Academy U18, where he had a record of 9-4, a 3.21 GAA and an 869 SV%.  

Broncos reflect on past year and forge ahead at their annual general meeting

It has been an eventful year both on and off the ice for the Humboldt Broncos over the last year. A coaching change created a busy summer as Scott Barney stepped down as Head Coach in June to accept the Head Coach/GM job with the Sudbury Wolves of the Onario Hockey League. Brayden Klimosko eventually became the team’s new head coach in July.  

On the ice, the season was shorter than what everyone would want, following an exit in the opening round of the playoffs. 

Roughriders head back to Ontario searching for another win against the Argonauts

It will be a second straight trip to Ontario for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. 

Following last week’s win in Hamilton, the Roughriders will head to the “Big Smoke” to meet the Toronto Argonauts.  

After plenty of movement on their roster through the first two weeks, the green and white will only be making two changes to their lineup this week. 

SPSA updates the wildfire situation in the province

The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) provided the latest wildfire update in the province.  

There are 19 active wildfires in the province, with four categorized as contained, four are not contained, eight are ongoing assessment, and three are listed as protecting values.   

So far this year, there have been 265 wildfires in Saskatchewan, well above the five-year average of 158.
