Ontario man taken to hospital via STARS after collision east of Elm Creek
A 29 year old man from Ontario was transported via STARS Air Ambulance to hospital with serious injuries after a head on collision Thursday morning about a mile east of Elm Creek.
Pembina Valley RCMP responded to the call shortly after 8 a.m., and the initial investigation has determined the westbound car driven by the 29-year-old veered over the center line, colliding head on with an eastbound pick-up driven by an 83-year-old male from St. Claude. The pick-up driver was also taken to hospital with injuries.
Carman Dufferin FD responds to Wednesday forage harvester fire
A forage harvester sustained substantial damage after a fire Tuesday afternoon.
Carman Dufferin Fire Department (CDFD) responded to the call at 2:58 p.m., and due to the location and potential to spread into the corn field the equipment was working in, St. Claude Fire Department was also requested to assist.
Crews arrived and extinguished the fire before it was able to spread beyond the immediate area around the harvester.
The department was called out again around 6:33 p.m. last night for a hydro lines related call.
West and East Reserve tours to offer unique view of Mennonite settlement anniversary
The Manitoba Mennonite Historical Society is organizing two unique events that will give you an on-the-ground perspective of the 150th anniversary of Mennonite settlement in the province.
October 10 and 22, tours of the East and West Reserve respectively will be taking place, with Ernie Braun leading the East event and Conrad Stoesz the West.
Carman Dufferin FD responds to garage fire Monday night
Carman Dufferin Fire Department responded to a structure fire late Monday night in Carman.
The call came in around 10:45 pm., and when firefighters arrived they found a detached garage fully involved in flames. Crews were able to contain the blaze before it spread to neighbouring buildings, but some of the neighbouring buildings did sustain minor damage.
Firefighters remained on scene overnight into Tuesday morning.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation with the Office of the Fire Commissioner.
RCMP release more details regarding Friday collision south of Plum Coulee
RCMP have provided Golden West with additional details regarding a two-vehicle collision south of Plum Coulee Friday afternoon along Provincial Road 306.
At approximately 4:40 p.m. Friday afternoon Pembina Valley RCMP responded to the two-vehicle collision.

MPI Rates going down 5 per cent in 2024 after PUB decision
In a decision released Monday, the Public Utilities Board (PUB) has announced it has ordered Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) to implement an overall five per cent decrease to insurance premiums for the 2024/25 insurance year, effective April 1, 2024.
MPI had applied for no overall change in rates. The PUB's decision was partly because it expects the cost of claims to be lower in the coming years than MPI has forecast.
Snowfall warning issued with 10 to 20 cm expected for parts of southern Manitoba
The idea of seeing accumulating snow before the end of October is already tough to swallow for most, especially considering the above-average temperatures throughout the last several weeks, but Environment Canada issuing a snowfall warning for much of Southern Manitoba is, perhaps, just a little much for this time of year.
10 to 20 cm is expected for portions of southern Manitoba on Wednesday, with additional accumulations expected in the Red River Valley and Southeastern Manitoba Thursday.
Portage-Lisgar advance poll estimates released by Elections Canada
Elections Canada has released the estimated number of voters who cast a ballot during the four Advance Polling days held over the weekend.
According to the preliminary figures, 7,988 electors voted in the Portage-Lisgar by-election between Friday, June 9th, and Monday, June 12th.
The advance polls were open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day.
