Murdock honoured to be elected Moose Jaw’s 42nd mayor
James Murdock won in a landslide on Wednesday night to become Moose Jaw’s 42nd mayor.
Murdock took home 63.7 per cent of the vote with 5,437 votes. The next closest contender with Crystal Froese with 1,439 votes, a difference of 3,998 votes.
Speaking after the election, Murdock said it was truly an honour to be elected the mayor of Moose Jaw.
One new face joins veterans on Chinook School Division Board
Swift Current is sending two experienced trustees and a new face to the Chinook School Division Board.
Tim Ramage and Dianne Hahn return to the board with 1252 votes and 1181 votes respectively.
Ramage has been on the school board since 2005, while this is Hahn's third term.
Ron Caswell edged out incumbent Ken Duncalfe 1151 to 1113.
William Reil finished 5th with 407 votes.
Familiar face re-joins city council
A former city councillor in Swift Current is returning after a four-year hiatus.
Bruce Deg will serve a second term as a councillor thanks to the 1,456 votes cast for him, ranking him fifth in votes out of the ten candidates vying for six openings.
"I sure appreciate it," he said. "What can I say, I'm really happy they elected me."
Stewart celebrates family ties on election night
There are many reasons to celebrate for the Stewart and Caswell families tonight.
Courtney Stewart made the cut in the Swift Current city council election, while her father Ron Caswell is newly elected to the Chinook School Division Board.
"Congrats to my dad. I see he's on the school board," Stewart said. "I guess this means our Friday night hangouts might be kind of boring with us on our laptops. Should be a lot of fun."
Stewart's election is a significant turnaround after she finished 14th in the 2020 council election.
Unofficial Herbert election results
The Town of Herbert has released unofficial results from their municipal election tonight.
"At this time, I will provide our initial count," said Herbert returning officer Michelle Mackow. "The count is too close for me to declare it tonight. A recount will be done in the morning.
"What a great turnout. The voters in the Town of Herbert should be proud with 333 voters."
Mayor Bridal reacts to council election results
Acclaimed Swift Current Mayor Al Bridal is looking forward to working alongside a veteran council team for the next four years.
Bridal is happy to see the return of Ryan Plewis, Ryan Switzer, Tom Christiansen, and Leanne Tuntland-Wiebe while welcoming Bruce Deg and Courtney Stewart to the table.
For Bridal, he is excited to once again have the chance to work with the familiar faces, while also now getting to know the two new members.
Tuntland-Wiebe delighted over re-election to city council
Incumbent Swift Current city councillor Leanne Tuntland-Wiebe comfortably held onto her seat Wednesday night in the municipal election.
Tuntland-Wiebe finished in third place overall in the election garnering a total of 1,984 votes.
"I had a few butterflies in my stomach," she shared. "It's an honour to have people elect you to do such an important job and be a voice for their community."
Preliminary results for the Holy Trinity Catholic School Division
Moose Jaw’s election season has come to a close, the ballots have been cast and now Moose Javians welcome not only a new mayor and city council, but also school board trustees for the Holy Trinity Catholic School Division.
A total of four seats were up for grabs in this year's election and the winners are as follows:
Christine Boyczuk with 592 votes
Derek Hassen with 559 votes
Joann Blazieko with 547 votes
Alison Bradish with 525 votes

Moose Jaw’s election season has come to a close, the ballots have been cast and now Moose Javians welcome not only a new mayor and city council, but also school board trustees for the Prairie South School Division.
The winners of the seats in Subdivision 6 are as follows:

Patrick Boyle with 2,105 votes
Brett Hagan with 2,061 votes
Lew Young with 1,925 votes
Tenielle McLeod with 1,706 votes
McLearn continuing to guide Neville as mayor
While a number of southwest Saskatchewan municipalities are holding elections today, Neville's mayor has returned to her seat by acclamation.
